Why should you choose to drive yourself to explore the South Island?

The Southern region of Phu Quoc Island is famous for its smooth white sand beaches and international entertainment facilities. Owning a self-driving car helps you completely control your time and comfortably stop to take photos along the sunny coastal roads.

The road system connecting the airport to An Thoi is currently very spacious, airy and has clear signs. Traveling by private car helps your family or group of friends avoid the harsh tropical noon sun, while also easily storing luggage throughout the trip.

Day 1: Get the car, check-in to Bai Sao and watch the sunset at Sunset Town

In the morning, after landing at Phu Quoc Airport, you can pick up the car quickly in about 30 minutes. From the airport, you drive along the DT46 bypass route south about 18km with a driving time of about 25 minutes to reach the famous Bai Sao.

Bai Sao welcomes you with clear jade sea water and creamy white sand. You can spend the afternoon swimming in the sea, resting on umbrellas under cool coconut trees and enjoying fresh seafood right at coastal restaurants.

At about 3:30 p.m., you continue driving for about 15 minutes to reach Sunset Town on the southwest coast of the island. This place possesses splendid Mediterranean architecture with rows of colorful houses winding along a steep bank overlooking the vast ocean.

The moment the sun gradually sets into the sea from the Kissing Bridge is an experience not to be missed. In the evening, take a walk at the bustling Vui Phet night market, taste delicious street food and watch the eye-catching fireworks light show before returning to the hotel to rest.

Day 2: Experience Hon Thom cable car and relax at An Thoi port

Start your second day full of energy, drive to Anh Duong Station in An Thoi center in only 5 to 10 minutes. The station has an extremely spacious and convenient car park so you can safely park your car all day long.

The three-wire cable car route across the sea will take you to a panoramic view of An Thoi fishing village with hundreds of moored boats as beautiful as a watercolor painting. After about 20 minutes of surfing above the sky, you will arrive at Hon Thom island with a modern water park and pristine beach.

You can spend the entire morning and early afternoon freely splashing in the cool water and participating in thrilling games. Around 4:30 p.m., take the cable car back to the southern shore of the island to rest and prepare for the evening seafood party.

The An Thoi port area has many local restaurants serving herring salad, grilled sea urchins with onions and fresh snails that have just been caught. The fresh, sweet flavor and cool sea breeze will bring you unforgettable moments of relaxation.

Day 3: Visit Ho Quoc Pagoda, visit historical sites and buy specialties

On the morning of the last day, depart early along the eastern hillside to reach Truc Lam Ho Quoc Zen Monastery. The distance from An Thoi to the temple is about 12km with a beautiful coastal road filled with cool green trees.

The pagoda leans back against the mountain and faces the blue sea, creating a majestic and peaceful scene. Standing down from the dragon yard, you will feel the vastness of the clouds and the sound of the waves, dispelling all daily fatigue.

Leaving Ho Quoc Pagoda, you drive back towards the center to visit Phu Quoc Prison to learn about the heroic history of the nation. After that, don't forget to stop by long-standing traditional fish sauce establishments on the way home to buy delicious bottles of pure fish sauce as gifts for relatives.
